Class 101, a national network of college planners, recognized Karen Lane DeRosa and the Class 101 Dayton OH South location as the “Rookie of the Year” at the company’s national convention at California Lutheran University on June 24 and 25, 2019. Class 101 opened this first location in the Miami Valley in August 2018. In the Dayton’s location first eleven months, it has risen to be one of the top performing locations in the nation. Class 101 Founder Tom Pabin announced that DeRosa was the national “Rookie of the Year,” and the Dayton OH South location (in Springboro) is on pace to set the company’s record for student enrollment in the first year.
With the Class of 2019, Class 101 Dayton OH South’s students achieved 93 percent acceptance rate to schools including the University of North Carolina, Case Western Reserve University, Baylor, Rhodes, Loyola Chicago, The Ohio State University, Miami University, Indiana University, University of Dayton, and more. These students earned more than $1.7 million in merit scholarship offers. Nationwide, the average Class 101 student earns more than $200,000 in scholarships.
Class 101 makes college more affordable through personalized services, including ACT/SAT prep, student resume development, essay workshops, and college applications and scholarship assistance. Class 101 students work individually with a college adviser to define their interests, build a large list of schools, and take the steps necessary to achieve their college goals in the most cost-effective manner possible. Class 101–Dayton OH South currently works with students in grades nine through 12 from more than 10 area high schools.
