During our Summer Power-Up, students pave their path to college with dedicated support, guidance, and tools from our Class 101-Dayton team. The Power-Up opportunity encourages students to make the most of their summer. As with all Class 101 programs, we adapt this to the needs and goals of each individual student.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Class of 2027: The Power-Up Plan for Rising Seniors! <\/p>\n\n\n\n
College List<\/p>\n\n\n\n
* Finalize the list of schools for applications before August 1. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
* Build a balanced college list. If a student wants to apply to five \u201creach\u201d schools, then we encourage them to apply to five schools with more generous acceptance rates and merit scholarship programs. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
* Open a conversation with your family around the college budget.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
College visits, including academic visits, to finalize the application list
* Complete at least two more visits this summer, including academic visits, to help determine your top \u201cfit\u201d factors. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Resume
* Polish your resume and prepare your list of activities and honors for The Common Application.
* Continue building the resume with meaningful activities that show depth of interest in an area of study or community involvement.

Recommendations<\/p>\n\n\n\n
* Ask one or two of your teachers to write a letter of recommendation before the last day of school. Some teachers will appreciate the chance to work ahead on your letter. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
* Core academic teachers since tenth grade or later are recommended. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
* Provide them your latest resume for reference. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
ACT\/SAT Test Prep<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Set a game plan for one or two additional tests, if needed<\/em>. Class 101 rising seniors may still choose to take one of our Test Prep Power Camps for a summer ACT or SAT if they have a target score tied to a specific college program or merit scholarship. <\/p>\n\n\n\n College Essays<\/p>\n\n\n\n * All Class 101 rising seniors are expected to attend three essay workshop sessions beginning in June.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The Power Up Plan for 9th, 10th, and 11th Grade! * Review the last School Year. Sit down with your Class 101 college planner and set goals for the next school year!
* Set Summer Goals. Determine what you hope to accomplish during your summer break.This might be a summer job, volunteer hours, starting a new project, or visiting a certain number of colleges.
* College List. Create or modify your list of top ten colleges and universities.
* Campus Visits. Complete at least two college visits from your top ten list. This will help you define your college \u201cfit\u201d factors.
* Explore Careers. Attend a summer camp, job shadow, or talk with someone in your field of interest.
* Get Involved. Find at least one volunteer opportunity to add to your resume this summer. Remember to check the volunteer board in the Class 101 office for ideas! <\/p>\n\n\n\n
