The state of Kentucky has officially ended its partnership with ACT for the statewide junior assessment. This means that public school juniors will no longer receive a free, state-administered ACT test.
Is the ACT Going Away? No! The ACT is still:
✅ A trusted measure of college readiness
✅ Accepted by all Kentucky and out-of-state colleges
✅ Used to award merit scholarships and determine academic preparedness
The free ACT that was provided during the school day for all juniors in KY public schools is going away. The state will now use a different assessment to measure school performance.
For Rising Seniors (Class of 2026): Stick with ACT.
👉 Not happy with your score? Retake the ACT in September, October, or December
👉 Most KY schools will accept your highest ACT score through February for merit scholarships
