What You Should Know About the ACT

ACT Structure & Strategies

The paper ACT includes four required sections: English, Math, Reading, and Science. The digital version is shorter and makes the Science section optional. Both formats include an optional writing section.

For most students, taking the ACT more than once improves scores. Beginning test prep before junior year maximizes opportunities for growth and scholarships.

Test Day Checklist

Know what to expect by reviewing test day procedures, what to bring, and how the day is structured. Digital testers currently use provided devices, with student-provided devices planned for future testing windows.
