The ACT is a college admissions test made up of four main sections—English, Math, Reading, and Science—plus an optional Writing section. It is offered in both paper and digital formats. Digital tests are shorter, offer fewer answer choices, and include more time per question. Unlike the SAT, the ACT is linear and not adaptive.
For most students, taking the ACT more than once improves scores. Beginning test prep before junior year maximizes opportunities for growth and scholarships.
Know what to expect by reviewing test day procedures, what to bring, and how the day is structured. Digital testers currently use provided devices, with student-provided devices planned for future testing windows.
View the latest test dates, registration fees, and deadlines. Fee waivers may be available to qualifying students.
Students with documented disabilities or English language needs may qualify for testing accommodations and support.
