Earlier in her career, she worked as a Spanish and ESL tutor in Madrid and volunteered as an English-to-Spanish translator for Plan International, contributing her skills to important humanitarian work. 

A native Spanish speaker and graduate of the Universidad de Santiago de Compostela with a degree in English Language and Literature, she also studied Educational Psychology at the Universidad Complutense de Madrid.
