Thinking Clearly About The Spring ACT

Families working with Class 101 Waukesha-Brookfield can be confident they are thinking clearly about the ACT

Now that the Mock ACT is behind us, many students and families are asking the right question, not “How did it go?” but “What do we do next?”

That question is exactly why Mock ACTs are so valuable. They turn vague anxiety into usable information.

One of the biggest mistakes families make with testing is treating every ACT date as automatic. Test in February. Test again in April. Maybe again in June. Without context, that approach leads to burnout, frustration, and diminishing returns. A Mock ACT gives students something much better than guesswork: a baseline.

With a real score in hand, spring testing decisions become clearer:

  • Is February a realistic target, or would April allow more growth?
  • Are gains more likely to come from content review or strategy?
  • Does further testing meaningfully improve admissions or scholarship options?
  • Or is this student already in a strong position?

For juniors, this is where strategy begins to matter more than effort alone. Spring testing should be intentional, not reactive. The goal isn’t to test as much as possible, it’s to test when it makes sense.

For seniors who participated, the Mock ACT often provides reassurance. Sometimes it confirms that another test is worth pursuing. Other times, it validates that energy is better spent elsewhere, like scholarships or finalizing decisions.

The key takeaway after a Mock ACT is this: data creates calm. When students understand where they stand, planning becomes easier and stress tends to fade.

If your family is sorting through spring testing decisions or wondering how to interpret recent results, I’ll be hosting Open Office Hours this coming Monday at Class 101 Brookfield. We’re happy to talk about ACT strategy, or anything else on your mind, from college lists to affordability to next steps.

Why You Should Take A Mock ACT Right Now

January is when ACT questions start piling up. Should my student test in February? Do they need prep first? Is it too early? Too late? Before answering any of those, there’s one step that almost always comes first: getting a real baseline score. That’s what makes a Mock ACT so valuable, especially this time of […]
