Local and regional scholarships offer smaller application pools and generous awards, including the Class 101-Dayton Scholarships for 2026. In addition to supporting several local organizations granting scholarships, Class 101-Dayton also hosts two scholarship programs that are open to all students in the Miami Valley.
First, the 101 Scholar program awards students who have demonstrated leadership in service and overall academic achievement. The program is open to students in grades 9-12; they are asked to create and submit a 1-2-minute video or 500-word essay on their service and leadership activities. The national 101 Scholar award is $3000; in addition, Class 101-Dayton will award multiple $500 local scholarships.
“The 101 Scholar program awards difference-makers in our high schools. We want to recognize service and leadership as well as academic achievements,” said Karen Lane DeRosa, Owner of Class 101 in Springboro. Applications for 101 Scholar are due March 15, 2026. Students who have been involved in the performing arts (instrumental music, vocal performance, musical theatre, dance, drama) should also apply the the Jamison-Find Your Voice Scholarship. The DeRosa family created this scholarship program for graduating seniors who demonstrate a passion for the performing arts by participation in vocal music, instrumental music, dance, and/or theater during their high school years. Seniors should apply by March 20, 2026. Link: https://forms.gle/HdHzRjdJeShubyaq5
There is no magic formula for scholarships, so we recommend a regular cadence of research and applications that prioritizes local opportunities. Local high schools post local scholarships in February and March.
