One of the most common questions we receive is, “How can we make college more affordable?” The answer lies in three key areas: GPA, ACT score, and resume. Of these, the ACT score often has the most significant impact—not only on college admissions but also on scholarship opportunities. Test prep improvement can occur as early as freshman and sophomore year. The strongest focus, however, should be during the junior and senior year. Class 101-Lexington has a comprehensive ACT game plan for these students, designed to maximize their potential and set them up for success. 

Our Spring ACT Game Plan 

March ACT Test 

Our public and private schools in Central Kentucky offer a free ACT test in mid-to-late March. To prepare for this, students attend our 4-week ACT prep course. This course introduces essential test strategies, helps students identify their areas for improvement, and lays a solid foundation for how they can raise their test scores. 

Intensive ACT Courses

After the March test, students attend an intensive 8-week ACT course from April (after Spring Break) through early June, in preparation for the June 14th ACT test. Another intensive 8-week course takes place from August to October, and students will take two more ACT tests in September and October. 

The ACT is a marathon, and it is not something that students love to do repeatedly. However, based on 27 years of experience, we know that repeated attempts lead to better scores. On average, Class 101 students take the ACT 5-6 times, allowing them to refine their skills and improve their results.

Higher ACT scores not only open doors to college admissions but also translate into more merit-based scholarships, giving students greater financial and educational options. While the ACT may not be a favorite activity, it is a critical investment in a student’s future.
