College Planner/Math Tutor
Hello. My name is Jenny Simmons and I am very happy to be a part of Class101 and work with the outstanding team members Amber has assembled. My favorite thing throughout my thirty-five-year teaching career - thirty-four years at Saltillo High School and one year at the University of Hawaii - is helping students become better prepared for college or the workplace. At SHS, I taught all levels of math including state-tested Algebra I, Advanced Placement Calculus, and College Algebra. While at Saltillo, I earned a Masters's Degree and National Board Certification. I was named Lee County Teacher of the Year, and, in 2015, was chosen as The Mississippi Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching winner. After retirement in 2018, I worked around the state of Mississippi as a mathematics consultant. During my career, I enjoyed watching my students grow, succeed, and become great community members. At Class101, I am once again getting to do all those things. When I am not at Class101, I spend time with my family: husband, Tim, son, Jack, and daughter, Julie. I am an active member of First Baptist Church Saltillo and love being part of the mission activities they provide.Lori Johnson

She graduated from Blue Mountain College with a degree in Elementary Education, and then continued her Masters Degree in Elementary Education at Mississippi State University. Aside from teaching, Lori volunteers as Children's Director at Thrasher Baptist Church. She is also a self-published author and has written several family Bible studies as well as a children's book. She also earned a third degree black belt at Free Form Martial Arts. Lori hopes that her skills of creativity, hard work, and determination will help guide and inspire young people and their families.Janice Fleming
Senior Planner/English & Reading ACT Instructor
Janice Fleming is one of our senior counselors and ACT tutors. She has been with Class 101 since September 2021. “Granjan,” as she is known by students and counselors alike, retired in May of 2021 from Saltillo High School, having taught there 16 years. She also spent 16 years at Okolona High School and two years at Pillow Academy in Greenwood. During her career, Granjan taught all secondary English classes with the exception of eighth grade. She also taught Dual Credit English I and II, AP English literature, creative writing, and Mississippi writers. At Saltillo, she led ACT English and Reading prep classes. She says she enjoys Class 101 because it is the best of both worlds: She is retired, but she continues to work in the field of education, which she believes has been her life’s calling, and she gets to work with the students she loves. Granjan is married to Steve Fleming, and she has 3 sons, 2 daughters-in-law, and 6 grandchildren. Two sons and one daughter-in-law teach with Lee County Schools.Ericka Miller

My experience with Class 101 has been amazing to say the least. When I joined, I had a
24 on my ACT. After only 2 short years, I increased my score to a 30 due to the weekly ACT
practice classes. Additionally, Class 101 has played a pivotal role in enrolling me into college.
Mrs. Amber McHenry helped me every step of the way from enrollment to scholarships. I truly
believe that Class 101 is the reason I’m getting to go to a great college.
Will Chappell
For over two years now, I have been a part of Class 101. Class 101 has helped me raise
my ACT score, prepare for college, and apply to tons of scholarships. Without this organization,
I would not even know where to begin in preparing for college.
